#TIL:
You can use the "Unlisted" toot privacy option to have a thread without spamming the timeline.
Make the first toot in a thread Public, and all replies to it unlisted. That way the timeline stays neat and you can chat all you want. Your followers will still see all your replies, though.
@stephen oooooh! Nice tip! I wish there was a Mastodon/Fediverse etiquette link somewhere when we sign up for any instance, not just with what's generally considered rude, but also tips and tutorials, like this. I'm still figuring stuff out and this did not occur me! I was using CWs so as not to spam. xD
@eloisa
An etiquette guide is such a great idea.
@stephen @eloisa There are a few on GitHub. I don't have the links right now but I can look them up tomorrow. :)
The thing is, a lot of things depend on your instance, so no guide will cover everything. And expectations evolve fairly organically, too. It's part of why Masto can be so overwhelming, specially at first. >.<

You can do a fuzzy user search by leaving out the `@` symbol when entering user and domain.
@stephen I didn't know this. Thanks!
